Purpose of the Consultancy

The consultant will strengthen TdH NL’s communication, visibility, and advocacy efforts in Kenya by implementing strategic communication activities, developing impactful content, and ensuring brand alignment across internal and external platforms.

The role will contribute to elevating TdH NL’s visibility, supporting campaigns, donor engagement, and storytelling efforts that champion child protection and anti-exploitation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Consultant will:

  • Support implementation of TdH NL’s Kenya Communication Strategy and plans.
  • Create high-quality multimedia content (articles, case stories, visuals, videos, podcasts) in line with TdH NL’s Ethical Content Policy.
  • Manage social media accounts and digital engagement (Facebook Africa, LinkedIn Global).
  • Support communication for advocacy, donor visits, and high-level events.
  • Review and align partner communication materials with TdH NL and donor branding requirements.
  • Produce monthly content calendars, media materials, and success stories.
  • Provide basic communication and branding training to staff and partners.
  • Contribute to the launch of Feon’ny Zaza podcast episodes and other awareness campaigns.

Expected Deliverables

  • Implementation of the Kenya Communications Strategy.
  • Launch of Feon’ny Zaza Podcast Episodes 3 and 4.
  • Monthly content calendar and website updates (Nov 2025 – Mar 2026).
  • 10 case stories and 50 high-quality photos documenting SEC projects.
  • 5 event reports (e.g., She Leads workshop, donor visits, national events).
  • Finalised Kenya Office Capability Statement and updated IEC materials.
  • 3 presentation decks for national and international conferences.
  • Timely communications support for Kenya, regional, and global teams.

Duration and Contract Terms

  • Location: Nairobi, Kenya (with travel to project sites as needed)
  • Type of Contract: Independent consultancy agreement (non-employment)
  • Duration: 1st November 2025 – 30th April 2026 (6 months, non-renewable)
  • Payment: Based on approved deliverables; subject to applicable withholding tax
  • Requirement: Valid KRA PIN; responsibility for personal tax compliance

Consultant Profile

We are looking for a results-driven, creative communicator with:
✔ A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
✔ Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications, ideally in development or child protection sectors.
✔ At least 2 years of photography, videography, or content creation experience.
✔ Excellent writing, editing, and graphic design skills (Canva/Adobe).
✔ Familiarity with Google Analytics, TweetDeck, and Mailchimp.
✔ NGO or INGO experience (strongly preferred).
✔ Excellent communication skills in English; Swahili an advantage.
✔ Willingness to travel to field sites across Kenya.
