About Terre des Hommes
Terre des Hommes Netherlands aims to protect children by preventing and stopping child exploitation. And by empowering children to make their voices count. the work of Terre des Hommes Netherlands focuses on (Online) Sexual Exploitation of Children and Child Labour. For each of these forms of child exploitation, Terre des Hommes Netherlands is developing and implementing projects and programmes through local partners, mainly in Asia, Africa and Europe. About this role
The primary objective of this internship position is to assist the Regional Representative, Africa, in preparing and disseminating expertise on child exploitation, both internally and externally and supporting advocacy and influencing initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about the complexities of child protection issues; contributing to ongoing research and advocacy and Influencing initiatives of the organisation.
The intern will be part of the Research and Influencing team. He/She will receive practical hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment, offering exposure to diverse tasks within the realm of child protection.
Key responsibilities:
The intern will get the opportunity to learn research and advocacy skills, which might include the following tasks:
- Contribute to writing and preparing reports, policy briefs and advocacy knowledge products, where you’ll need to translate complex information into digestible formats. Ability to use Canva would be a plus;
- Collection and analysis of data related to children’s rights and the prevention of child exploitation;
- Engage with partners and different regional and global teams (Africa, Asia and Europe) while working on research and advocacy/influencing initiatives. Have the chance to deep dive into a topic that interests them, from our research and influencing portfolios and programmes, and write content for our website or briefs to share internally;
- Participate in team meetings, workshops and training sessions.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on intern, who:
- Has just completed or is currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., social and behavioural sciences, social work, public policy, international law, child rights, etc.).
- Demonstrable experience with either research or influencing activities;
- Has good oral and written communication skills in English
- Is sensitive to cultural diversity and has a commitment to ethical practice.
