Gráinne Le Fevre new CEO of Terre des Hommes

Terre des Hommes Netherlands has appointed Gráinne Le Fevre as Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation. She will lead Terre des Hommes into a new phase of purpose and impact as children face increasing risks from the fast-paced developments in technology and AI, to conflict, climate shocks, and deepening inequality.

Le Fevre has been part of Terre des Hommes since 2021, serving as Acting Regional Director for Asia and later as Programme Director and Executive Director. With extensive experience in international development across Africa and Asia, she brings a combination of strategic insight, field experience, and partnership-driven leadership.

  • Gráinne Le Fevre

I am honoured to lead Terre des Hommes Netherlands into its next chapter. Our mission is urgent and clear, to prevent and end the exploitation of children worldwide. Every day, our colleagues, partners, and young people themselves show that change is possible. Together, we will build on our strong foundations and bring evidence-driven solutions to make sure every child can grow up safe, empowered, and with hope for the future.

A mission that matters more than ever

Around the world, children continue to face exploitation in families, communities, workplaces, travel and tourism, and increasingly online. Rapid digitalisation has created new risks that outpace protection systems, while poverty, gender inequality, and weak accountability allow abuse to persist in silence.

For almost 60 years, Terre des Hommes Netherlands has stood alongside children, families, and communities across the globe to expose and end exploitation. From engaging directly with children and communities, to working with companies to improve their business practices and with governments to strengthen laws and policies that protect children, the organisation engages at every level to safeguard children and demand justice.

“The scale of online exploitation is alarming, but not inevitable,” said Le Fevre. “Technology can also be part of the solution. By working with governments, companies, and young people themselves, we can shift from reacting to preventing harm, building digital and physical environments where children are truly safe.”

Leadership for a critical moment

Le Fevre’s career has been shaped by a belief in the power of learning from lived experience and by first-hand experience of what effective collaboration looks like in practice. “She has led complex teams across continents, strengthened impact through locally-led action, and built trust with governments, multilateral partners, and grassroots organisations alike. At a time when international NGOs are redefining their role in a rapidly changing world, she brings a calm, forward-looking vision that prioritises collaboration, accountability, and tangible impact for children.” Said Marianne Verhaar, Chair of Terre des Hommes Netherlands Supervisory Board.

Looking ahead

Under her leadership, Terre des Hommes Netherlands will continue to focus on ending child exploitation, while advancing equitable partnerships and strengthening accountability to children and communities. The organisation will champion the voices of children and young people and work across sectors, from government to technology, and from law enforcement to education and social protection, to create lasting, systemic change.

Le Fevre’s appointment marks both continuity and renewal, a reaffirmation of Terre des Hommes’ unwavering commitment to protecting children, and a renewed call for collective action to confront one of the most urgent and preventable injustices of our time.
