(O)SEC senior programme managerSexual exploitation of children (SEC) happens globally, also in the Netherlands, both online and offline.
Monique and her work at Terre des Hommes
In contrast to what many people think, SEC is not a phenomenon that happens abroad, but it also happens in the Netherlands and is amplified by digital platforms. My name is Monique Demenint and I am an experienced senior programme manager. An estimated 3 in 10 girls and 1 in 10 boys become a victim of online sexual exploitation (OSEC) before they are eighteen years old. It is therefore an urgent problem that is often not talked about due to shame and stigma but can have a huge and long lasting mental and physical impact on children and young people.
My focus is on working with Dutch Civil Society Organisations, knowledge institutes and others in setting up a programme on preventing and responding to (online) sexual exploitation for TdH NL in the Netherlands, empowering children and young people. I have been working on this topic for TdN NL since 2020, I am an organisational anthropologist and hold a masters degree from the Free University in Amsterdam.
