Technical Advisor in EU Advocacy – Terre des Hommes NetherlandsTechnology companies hold immense power over the digital spaces children grow up in and with that power comes the responsibility to design safer platforms and to meaningfully embed children’s experiences and perspectives in their decisions.
Jeanne-Marie and her work at Terre des Hommes
Driven by a commitment to safeguarding children’s rights in the digital environment, Jeanne-Marie works as a Technical Advisor in EU Advocacy at Terre des Hommes Netherlands. She supports the development of child-centric policy responses to online child sexual exploitation, with a strong focus on ensuring children’s voices are meaningfully included in EU-level discussions. Her work also advocates for stronger accountability from tech companies to build safe, inclusive, and empowering digital spaces for all children. Her work at TdH has led her to develop expertise in European digital policy, particularly on safety-by-design, age assurance, and the regulation of online platforms.
Witnessing progress in children’s online safety through the EU recast directive is a true highlight for me.
The recent vote by the European Parliament on the recast directive to combat child sexual abuse is a huge highlight for me. It represents a sign of hope that children’s rights and safety can be prioritised at the highest political level. This milestone demonstrates that strong advocacy can drive real change, ensuring accountability and pushing policy makers to act in the best interests of children.
