About Terre des Hommes Netherlands
Terre des Hommes Netherlands aims to protect children by preventing and stopping child exploitation and by enabling children to make their voices heard. Terre des Hommes focuses on stopping the (online) sexual exploitation of children and child labor. For each of these forms of child exploitation, Terre des Hommes develops and implements projects through local partners in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The role
The Project Officer is responsible for the implementation of the SCROL 2.0: Safe Minds Online project activities in alignment with TdH NL’s strategy, policies and Integrity Framework. He/She plays a key role in developing TdH NL’s partnerships in Ethiopia, especially in the context of the global Thematic Programme – Sexual Exploitation of Children.
He/she will closely work with the partners and TdH NL global team to ensure timely and effective implementation of the project pilot and the scoping study in Ethiopia. The project officer is also in charge of networking and representing TdH NL in relevant platforms e.g. coalitions, government.
The Project Officer is part of the SCROL 2.0 Ethiopia programme and reports to the Country Director in Ethiopia, while the overall programme is managed by the SCROL 2.0 Programme Manager.
Where does your impact lie:
Your job is to ensure the project activities in Ethiopia under SCROL 2.0 are implemented with the highest standards.
To do this you will:
- Supervise and coordinate project implementation in support of the Strategic Partner Organisation and other CSO and government partners
- Lead the assessment, development, and coordination of partner capacity-strengthening plans to ensure effective project delivery in compliance with standards of safeguarding, accountability, systems change and sustainability
- Coordinate a scoping study to analyze the local context of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) in Ethiopia, identifying key drivers and assessing opportunities for TdH NL to contribute to sustainable systemic change
- Execute all the relevant administrative, monitoring and evaluation tasks in collaboration with the TdH NL Partnerships & Quality team
- Maintain and develop strong partnerships with implementation partners (CSOs, Ministries, and other allies)
- Ensure all parties involved with project activities comply with TdH NL’s Code of Conduct, Integrity and Accountability Frameworks and report to / seek support from the Integrity and MEAL teams
- Be responsible for quarterly and annual internal reporting requirements, and contribute to external reporting requirements in support of the Programme Manager
- Facilitate regular learning and reflection sessions to identify and document learnings from project implementations, with support from the Programme Manager / Officer and the Learning and Knowledge Manager
- Represent TdH NL in relevant networks and platforms for the purpose of project development and advocacy
- Support relevant research projects and proposal development processes whenever opportunities arise
What you bring:
The ideal candidate should have,
- Bachelor/Masters degree in development studies, gender studies, sociology, statistics, or other relevant area
- Minimum 5 year of work experience in project management
- Proficiency in English and Amharic Language oral and written
- Good knowledge of conflict resolution and partner mobilisation
- Solid organisational skills, including those related to time-management, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating
- Experience in building and managing monitoring and evaluation systems
- Technical experience in the field of child protection, sexual abuse and exploitation of children, child trafficking and migration, etc.
- Experience in working directly with government officials at the national and subnational level
- Good project writing and design skills (in English)
